I Should Have Been a Fairy

This is a fairy. She has wings. It would be nice to have wings. I really must believe that. I say so because last night I dreamed that I needed to return to a place that I used to live that is kind of far away. In the dream, I figured I would fly and not by plane. I figured I would fly myself using my own wings. I had the capacity to alter my form. I turned myself into a fly. I returned as a fly back to this location and was crawling around on a screen door because that is what a fly would do. I think to myself "People do not like flies. Perhaps I am in danger of being swatted. I think I will change into a gnat." The thought later occurred to me that for the trip home, I should turn into a bird because it might be too long of a trip for a gnat. I mean their little wings are small and could mean a lot of flapping. Dreams are weird, are they not? Why was I a fly or a gnat when I could have been a beautiful parrot? All in all though, I would have rather been a fairy.

The Oddities of Dreams

Last night, I had a dream. In the dream, I am riding a bicycle and I must say with much exertion. I am thinking "For crying out loud, riding a bicycle is much harder than I recall!" I struggle. I huff and puff. I make it up a hill. At the hilltop is a high school and I think "Finally! I am here at school!". Woops. I see a school bus full of young high school students.I feel embarrassed. I wish to shrink in my skin. I look down at myself. I think "Bet they are all laughing at me for having to ride this old bicycle to school." Not until I woke up did I realize that I had not worried about them laughing about an over 50 year old woman still going to high school. Maybe it is a regular occurrence for a woman to be held back 30 plus years. Anything is normal in the dream world. Naturally, I try to interpret it. Once I read that a car in a dream is your ability to navigate through life. Does the fact that I am on a bicycle mean that I have really hit the skids in my abilities? Does it mean that I am trying to attain some sort of balance? Actually, it means I have been reading too much young adult literature. There is a movie coming out at the end of the month and I wished to read this third installment of the book before I see the movie. Reading young adult literature is a sort of guilty pleasure for me. I do enjoy the innocence and simplicity of some of it but at the same time I am constantly critiquing the holes in this particular story and the missed opportunities to make it better. Oh well, she is still a millionaire and I am not so what do I really know about it anyway? Not much.

Blue Bear

I miss my Blue Bear. Last night, I had a dream that I was standing at the bottom of a spiral staircase and my Max came running down the stairs to me. I picked him up and buried my face in his thick fur. It was so wonderful to hold him and hear him purring. Dreams are so wonderful that way allowing you to be together again one more time. Dreams are also so effortlessly symbolic. It really is not that difficult to see the symbolism in the spiral staircase.

Hang on the Drive is Bumpy...Oh, That Was Just a Grave!

I made another entry in my dream journal, however, this is an old dream. I have never forgotten it because it was simple. The meaning is clear. In this dream, I am driving along in a green Volkswagen Beetle on a dirt road. They say to dream of driving a car is to dream of your life and your ability to navigate through life. Your vehicle is your means financially and otherwise. Me being in a small vehicle indicates I see myself with limited means. (I should have been on a skateboard then.) The road is your life's path. A dirt road would mean that while I might see my life's path not that easy, it was not that bad either. The road was level and fairly smooth. Plus, it was straight and the day was sunny. Then, out of the blue, BAM! I ran over something! I suddenly realized I ran over a grave. I looked in the rearview mirror and realized it was my own grave. Now that is coming face-to-face with your own mortality. At some point, you realize you will not live forever and most likely your end will come at the least expected moment.

Dreams and Doors

A recurring theme in many of my dreams is the theme of doors that will not stay shut or doors that are unlockable. I am sure you have had the dream in which you struggle with the lock for what seems like hours on end just to find that it keeps popping back open. If you look up locks and doors in dream dictionaries, you will find that they are often symbols of locking oneself away from their own feelings. (the exact meaning depends on which way the door is opening, in or out.) However, I do know this much about my own dreams. When I hit on the meaning, I know it immediately. This inability to lock a door in my dreams is a symbol of insecurity. I am afraid something will happen that I will be powerless to stop. Another theme that occurs many times in my dreams is the person I do not recognize. Obviously, this is myself. One never sees oneself as they truly are. (Speaking of truth, who's truth? Is how I see myself the true me or is how you see me the true me or is it someone else's vision of me? Truth is complicated, huh?) The woman in this dream standing outside of my door is obviously me. I am trying to lock her out but eventually, she will come in. It was not obvious while I was dreaming it but it is obvious to me now.

Dream Journal-First Entry

I have very vivid and detailed dreams. I love to analyze my dreams and other people's dreams too. I find them fascinating. I love the way the night time brain works out the issues of the day time brain. Something I stumbled upon on the Internet gave me the idea to keep a dream journal in pictures rather than words. It should be easier to capture the general tone and prominent aspects of dreams in pictures rather than trying to record them all in written form. This is my first attempt and I hope to improve with time. Tuesday night, I had a dream in which the prominent feature was a concrete set of stairs in a shady, overgrown wooded area leading to a house or houses. I dream of stairs a lot. Plus, another aspect of this dream that played a large part was a copse of trees that I kept looking past because I knew there was some altercation on the other side of the trees. Nothing in this dream was frightening or ominous. This is my depiction. More dreams to come later.
